Treasure Island, Florida


Treasure Island is a small barrier island just off the coast of St. Petersburg, Florida. It's got a stretch of white sand beaches facing the Gulf of Mexico, and a stretch of intercoastal waters dividing it from the mainland and other neighboring islands. Treasure Island looks like the land time forgot in many aspects, because it's got a lot of fifties-style architecture, small motels, beach resorts, local restaurants, and a relaxed atmosphere. It's relatively cheap to stay on Treasure Island, and it's a great place for beachcombing, boating, fishing, or driving to St. Pete for museums, shopping, or any of the nature around the area.

In June, 2001, I took a two-week trip to Treasure Island, Florida. I came back in June of 2004 for a week. The following are some photos of from both trips, and a trip report from the 2004 journey:
