• 9 miles south of San Luis in Costilla County.
• A 45-minute drive to Alamosa.
• Absolutely nothing around - no tract housing, prefab subdivisions, nosy neighbors, or anything else - lots of mesa or farmland.
• At an altitude around 7,800 feet. You're on a flat mesa, but you can see mountain ranges to the east and west.
• Just off SR 159, with access to a dirt county road.

• There are building codes in the county. They are very lax, but you can't throw up haybale or a mud hut without some paperwork.
