AmsterdamIn the country that begins with TheBy Jon Konrath |

I've wanted to visit Amsterdam for years, probably since college. I had a few close calls where I almost got it together, but it wasn't until late 2005 that I actually got my act together and went. This was my first trip out of the country (except Canada), and I always figured it would be a good "starter" trip, because everyone spoke English. And no, I didn't go because of the reefer or the whores, although I saw a lot of both there. Amsterdam is a great city, with very old buildings and canals, but incredibly modern people and transportation, and the whole place is remarkably clean. Just bring money - that Euro thing is a painful lump to swallow when you convert over your greenbacks.
