I've been writing for zines for ten or fifteen years now, and I would've
started earlier if I didn't grow up in such an ass-backward part of
the country. Here's my work and where to find it. PS: If you are
looking for some writing for your zine, I am usually game, and I don't
care if you have no money. Contact me and we can figure something out.
Air in the Paragraph Line is a zine about my life as a writer. It
originally started as a way for me to waste photocopier time at my old
job. Issues 8 and 9 were more like a "real" zine. Issue #10 onward are
printed like a real book, and contain writing from a bunch of other
people. Issue #11 came out in 11/06 - read the site for more
details.
Xenocide
In its time, Xenocide (earlier called Electric Deicide) was a print
and ezine, specializing in death/thrash/extreme metal. I started it
as an ezine in 2/92. Issue 4 was the first real print issue. Issue 5
came out in 4/93, and although I worked all summer on an issue 6, I
gave it up in the fall of 1993 because of a lack of money and time
(and because all of the good death metal bands were getting stupid).
The text of all five issues are still available for archiving reasons.
However, they are horridly out of date; buyer beware!
Assorted Realities
Assorted
Realities zine printed an excerpt from my second book, Rumored to
Exist. It's here.
(Looks like that link is dead now, sorry.)
I started my zine career helping out my pal Ray Miller with Metal Curse zine. I wrote Dear Death, a fake advice column, and cranked out an occasional CD
review or two each issue.
Rock Out Censorship
I did some work for Rock Out
Censorship since 1993, mostly assorted HTML wrenching and scheming
with the publisher, John Woods. (Sadly, he passed away in 2002.) An
article of mine on video game violence is located here.
I don't really like it anymore, and it's been used in a bunch of
college class reading materials, without me seeing a dime or at least
getting to guest-lecture to a bunch of college chicks or something.
Extent Zine
I had a column in Extent Zine #7 called Ipecac in a Shotglass, which was essentially another excerpt of Rumored to Exist. I submitted a second article for #8 and never heard back, so maybe I was in there twice, I'm not sure.
Raped Ape
I wrote regularly for Raped Ape
Magazine, an ezine that my friend Zeno had been publishing as part of
his startup book publishing venture, called Sotry House.
etc.
More Rumored to Exist excerpts can be found in Metal Curse, Perezvon
Plays Dead (MIA), and Wine With
Thieves. I did some rumored-like things in Drunkenscrawl zine.
