The world of Atmospheres 2 is assembled from abandoned shopping centers, anonymous motels, collapsing startups, endless highways, outdated electronics, corporate jargon, private grief, and news feeds announcing a different apocalypse every day. Reality has not simply been distorted by technology; it has been reformatted as monetized content.
Jon Konrath’s nonlinear experimental novel traces the breakdown of the boundaries between technology and identity, cruelty and entertainment, memory and hallucination. Your Trusty Narrator is stuck in the middle of it: grinding through meaningless technology jobs, doom-scrolling the latest catastrophe, obsessing over obsolete media, fleeing across ruined landscapes, and trying to determine whether his memories are real or merely another corrupted feed.
Told in three escalating acts, the novel moves from digital alienation and unstable identity through spectacular cruelty and into a surreal collision of dream, memory, and cultural debris.
